I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to ask young gun Lachie Whitfield a few questions ahead of the 2012 season, which for him is very important, away from the national media. If he puts in strong performances, he will likely be the AFL's number 1 draft pick.
But he's not getting too carried away.

1) Who is your role model? Chris Judd and Andrew Mackie
2) What team do you barrack for? Hawthorn
3) What parts of your game do you need to develop and improve? Strength, so hard ball gets and tackles.
4) From the Stingrays, who should we watch out for in the draft? Jason Pongracic and Nathan Wright.
5) How are you juggling VCE with footy? Time management and putting school ahead of footy at times to make sure I can do my best.
6) How are you coping of the expections of a potential no.1 draft pick? I don't think of it. I haven't played a game for points yet this year so it's a bit silly but I believe I've still got a lot to improve on before draft time comes.
7) What was it like running out on the MCG? There is nothing like it. It's motivated me to work hard and hopefully get on a list so I have the opportunity to possibly play on there every few weeks.
8) Do you have a Supercoach/Dreamteam team? Yes, I have one.
9) If so, who is in your team? My captain is Pendlebury, VC is Ablett. I have Franklin and Pavlich up forward next to young gun Devon Smith. Down back I've also got Ben Reid.
